Let's Talk...Info Dumping

Today's Earworm:
Today's Date: February 13, 2017

Yes, I know, I'm doing quite a bit of the Let's Talk Series, right? Well, the reason why is because I'm rewriting the Settling Down to Write Series and I want to get most of them done before moving on to something else.

But why am I here to talk about information dumping and just what the hell is it?

Well, it's what it sounds like. It's when you dump a lot of information into a short space of time. Or in a piece of writing, when you put all of your information into only 2 to 10 paragraphs. When you write a story, you want to tell the story, but that includes building up the setting, the characters, the plot, and kick starting it all.

But you want to spread the information out. You don't want to just go "here, have all this information about the main character and the setting that you're going to forget because there is just to much".

Look, we retain information a lot better when it's introduced slowly and it's woven in around the story itself, which we're enjoying.

So when a sudden flood of information happens, it throws off a reader and makes it hard to remember those details. Which doesn't exactly make a reader want to read the book after that.

Which is a bad thing since as writers, we want them to read the book. And then, hopefully, tell their friends to buy and read the book so that we can make more money to continue to write amazing books that will have them coming back for more.

But how do you stop just dumping the information out?

It's actually very easy to dump the info so you might not notice it...until you go back to reread it. So, as to stopping it while writing it, you need to keep a note on what you've introduced during that chapter and what you need to yet introduce. And then keep an eye out just chunks of text filled with thoughts and ideas.

It's all about keeping introductory points down in each chapter. For me, as a rule of thumb, I tend to keep it to one to two interconnected introductory points.

What do I mean by that?

Well, in the prologue of Bad Dog, I introduce my Idiot Villain and what he is doing. Pretty much I have him sitting in his 'home' and going over a list of herbs and ritual items that he needs. That's an interconnected introductory point. It's introducing my character and introducing what he is doing at the moment.

Another chapter has him burying a body and meeting a werewolf after he has done so. Again, these are interconnected introductory points. Even if they don't look like it at first glance, they are.

Unfortunately, I have something like 10 introductory points that all branch off of one point in the first official chapter. I need to figure out what points I want to go over in that first chapter and go through the other points later on in the story, spread out.

Dialogue is your friend for a lot of things, but you also need to weave in the details that make up the world into the story itself.

It's kind of annoying trying to remember to weave instead of just going "here, have at it". As easy as it may be to just give a reader all of the details, again, it turns them off. So, remember to edit. Spread out your points. And keep an eye out for an information dump.

I'm still fixing my own dump. A week after I found it.

Short Pieces and Drabble Information You Need to Know

This is all about the Short Pieces and Drabbles that you will come across on here. This list is randomly updated as I come across things that I should have on this list, so bookmark or watch for when I tell you that I've updated this.

I'm hoping that I remember that each drabble and short pieces of writing needs to have a link to this post so that all new and old readers have an easy way to get to it.

Okay, so let's go down the list.

I don't know when the first drabble will be up, but it will be no later than September 3, 2016.

In General:

  1. I will post every Saturday and link it on my Twitter, Facebook Authors Page, and my Tumblrs Author Page.
  2. I do not want you to repost this elsewhere. I do not mind if you guys link to this post so please feel free to do so.
  3. Reviews and comments are a lovely thing.
  4. With my longer Drabble/short pieces strings (such as with my Murder and Love series), once the string is done, I will do one large post with links to each of the drabbles along with a more cleaned up version of each drabble. This way you can just read it one session without following links.
  5. I will have other bits that aren't connected, but those will be mostly filler and rather random for whenever I decide to do something different.
  6. Any pairings are usually slash, or male/male, pairings because that's what I write.
  7. Read the warnings on each of the posts. Any post with anything graphic or slightly more detailed will have the warnings at the top of the post before the title. I do moderate any comments to a point and if I think if you're being a troll or purposefully ignoring the big bold warnings, then I'm going to remove them.
  8. Each string will have the links to the first part, the previous piece, and the piece that follows it. This way you can find each of the drabbles as we go along.
  9. If you find a drabble without a link, please don't be afraid to tell me and I will fix that linking problem.
  10. I write horror, okay? This means, blood, mind-screwing, hauntings, ghosts, murderers, assassins, death, drugs. All sorts of goodies. Again, read the warnings. I add them to each of my posts after all.
  11. All of them will range between 400 and 1,200 words in length but will not be any longer than that. Or at least I'm hoping. If I have to, I will cut a part in half to keep the length down.
About the "Murder and Love" Series:
  1. Murder and Love actually started because of one line that is found at the very start of the first drabble in this world. The first set called Just a Little Murder is rather on the darker side. Since it uses assassins as main characters, this is true.
  2. There is some sex, but nothing too explicit.
  3. There is an insane character killing his one-night stand in part 9 of Just a Little Murder, but again, there are warnings.
  4. Please take your time and discover this world because it's looking like this might be a full on series that these short pieces are going to be a part of.

So, wow. Today was good to me. Or at least mostly good to me. I got up kind of late (because I went to bed kind of late, so whoospies), and started to write. It took me some time and a lot of cursing, but I did get the words down! Which is awesome since I just have over 2K to write and I can easily do that in a couple of days.

So that's what I'm going to do in the morning. I'm going to write. I am also, hopefully, going to get a few more of my short pieces written down. Hopefully.

And figure out what my plans for the next few Monday blog posts are. Joy.

I have no idea what I'm going to say so I'll just list them off.

1: I have written another short piece for my future blog story bits. It's got big bold warnings at the top. Can't say I don't warn the shit out of you.

2: My back is full on "Fuck you, bitch" mode because I dared to sneeze. going to write a blog about being a spoonie and a writer. Not sure how that will turn out.

Might see it come next week. We'll see how it goes.

I have made it over the hurdle of a muse not wanting to work with me. Please ignore the cursing muse. She has a large amount of hot chocolate, coffee and tea at her disposal along with several treats that she is allowed to have.

Now, what happened to me getting my word count done before the 27th as I usually do?

Well...my muse wanted to play with an interesting story subject that kind of formed from my Magical world. I have a duology/series (still trying to decide on what will happen past books 1 and 2 so it might just be a duology) that is very much a tumblr inspired series but with my own interesting twist. Well me and a fellow writer in the Forward Motion chat room got to talking about sexualities. I.E. asexuality, demisexuality, aromanticism, demi-romanticism, and so on.

Which sparked a rather interesting idea for a character who is an asexual witch who practices sex magic and how that would work for this character since they need the sex.

The rituals never said that the sex had to be fun while they were doing it after all. So it's going to be an interesting exercise in presenting this character without pissing everyone off. Because no, the sex in this book will not be for the fun of it between two characters. Rather it's for magical purposes.

It's like sacrificing an animal, fruits or other items to whoever they are calling to this character. It needs to be done for their magic to its job. Simple as that.

So I'm doing more research into asexuality.

Thus my muse wandered off to try to play with this idea. Luckily I got it under control and working on this last bit because I have a mini story (such stories are usually between 5 and 15 chapters in length) that is prodding at my brain so I'm going to go start that.

Get it out of my head for a while.

But I'm happy to have gotten my validation done and in and all that good shit! Hurrah me.

For July 29 and July 30th, please see my final Thoughts and Notes down below.

Final Thoughts and Notes:

What to say about this last month? Cause really? There isn't much TO say about it.

This month has been full of lots of ups and downs, both in my writing and in my personal life. I have been helping a friend get past the loss of the last family member that really cared for her while we wait for her therapy place to have another opening to get anti-depressants again. Which is hard enough to do when you're not doing good as it is, but this is just that much harder.

I've also been editing and fiddling around with a few videos that need to be posted but that does take time to do. Which kind of sucks but it happens.

I did get a story done, which is nice. Even though I wanted to get further into one of my stories, but that happens sometimes. For now though I'm doing a few days of rewriting to give my creative brain a bit of a rest.

I have been doing next to nothing but writing.

My head hurts and I'm exhausted. But this is normal.

Yes, I did get my verification in and I did get my goodies. Which makes me happy.

Now, mind you, I'm not normal when it comes to the amount of wins versus losses in that I have yet to lose a Camp or a Nano. I don't have much of a life outside of my writing okay? I really don't. Mostly due to the fact that I do have issues being around other humans and crowds, and getting around.

So to all those who have done this round, win or lose, congratulations on having joined us in this insanity that is Camp National Novel Writing Month.

See you in November for National Novel Writing Month!

I am not even going to try to fill in what I was thinking during the last couple of days because most of the last two days was spent in a pain filled or drugged up filled daze. I'm sure those of you who follow my twitter account saw that yes, I was working on a chapter. But since it was kind of an erotic scene and I was in pain, it took me until today to get it down and out.

Which really kind of set me back. Luckily, it was over 2K and I was able to get it down. Right now I'm working my way through a rewrite that I started but had to stop because I needed more than just a couple hundred words. But that's about normal for me.

I'm still tired. Still in pain. And very much want it to be the 10th of August so I can hang out with my best friend and go see "Suicide Squad". But I'll continue to wait.

And watch horror movies from South Korea because I love their horror movies.

11PM

Had to re-add all my word counts and figure out what my final word count was. Which was actually in the 26K+ range, so that helped me out a lot.

I am so glad that I keep such detailed wordcount information. I really am.

9:25PM

I am sitting here working on creating a series of drabbles and short pieces for Saturday postings. The first series is going to be called Just a Little Murder and it's actually spawning its own book series. The entire series (both book and short pieces) will be called Murder and Love (or Lust later on. We'll have to see how it goes in the long run.).

So be on the lookout for that. I have 16 short pieces that are currently ranging from 400 to 650 words a piece, and for the information post about what is going on with my short pieces and drabbles.

I'm actually really happy with how this world is coming together, but just remember, the Murder and Love/Lust series are pre-book, and just help fill in some information I'm thinking. That and giving me and you, the reader, a feel for the world.

But I also got a full chapter written. The drabbles alone gave me 1,677 words, but this newest chapter gave me another 1,671 words. So yay!

I'm going to go edit a few things, set up a few chapters for other things, plot the next set in the Murder and Love/Lust series, and maybe fiddle around with some rewriting since I'm now ahead in my word count.

We'll see.

All done? Spoke to you? Yeah, it spoke to me in a deep way that I now need to write something that will rip out a person's heart and puree it before filling a new mold and setting a new heart for them later in the story. It'll be fun.

I also got some rewriting done which was nice. Now that it's after 4AM I'm going for more words and hopefully I'll get them done before I crash out. That is if I don't crash out in self defense from hallucinations. Tea and coffee will be my friends for this month. I swear.

It's nearly 8PM as I write this starter bit to today's section and I'm compulsively scratching at my skin. This tells me that my anxiety is high. It's not because of the fact that I'm doing Camp NaNo, it's because I'm not writing.

That is, I haven't gotten enough writing in for the last couple of days to really do me any kind of good to satisfy my hypergraphia. If you're new to my blog, hypergraphia is like a physical itch, a need to write. I can't just stop writing.

I end up with anxiety and scratching at my own skin. I've already scratched myself bloody a few times since this shit really kicked in, so I'm trying very hard not to do that now. I think that I will take a few minutes, shape my nails (and get rid of any rough edges) and take a hot bath while reading. After that, I will sit down, watch MrKravin on youtube (watching his play through of Until Dawn), write and I think...just ignore the world for a little while.

There is just so much hate going on that people who have all sorts of triggers for their anxiety are probably going through a lot of what I'm going through. We just want the hate to stop, to let us breath and be what we keep saying we are.

I'm not going to get into that because that's just not a pretty thought process and it's not what my blog is all about.

So I'm going to go play some Knights and Brides on Facebook, watch my twitter for interesting links to click that are rather random and have nothing to do with the outside world, take a hot bath, and watch some interesting play throughs while I write.

I'll keep you guys updated on what is going on.

So I got words. After midnight. I was able to just cool off (since it's been pushing 109, 110 here again) and finish off that chapter. Tried to write after I woke up. Didn't work. Not all that well at least. So I read a lot, crash early, handwrite a chapter to my Superhero novel.

I am slowly getting words when a fellow spoonie comes up with "Some people have euphoria during migraines? I want."

Now mind you, euphoria during a migraine pretty much means you don't care you're hurting, you feel good emotionally and somewhat mentally while the pills are working. But the moment that migraine is gone and euphoria wanes, there's a crash.

I hate to break it to her, but that crash can be BRUTAL. I have, at least when I feel the migraine coming on. When I wake up to one, not so much because I'm well past that stage into "damn it, hospital here I come" stage by then.

But it's the crash that really can mess with someone. Cause you have all these lovely feelings/thoughts/whatever going through you and they die a horrible death once the migraine is gone. It's like a bad drug trip that started out wonderful okay?

It's not worth it and I've been fighting off sinus headaches for the last two days so I'm going to take some sinus pills and write.

10:45 PM

I got my words. Barely before I have to crash out, and I suspect hard, but I got them! Hurrah. Or something. Ugh.

Preparing for Camp National Novel Writing Month July 2016 Pt 4

Today's Earworm: Bradley Caleb Kane "Once" Or Alice Cooper's "I Am Made of You"
Today's Date: June 27, 2016

I'm actually writing this on the 23ed of June, so the numbers are a bit odd because I'm kind of doing mass amounts of writing. You'll see down below yes?

Yes.

We are coming up on the last week before July starts. July 1st is on Friday so I'm going to finish getting ready to do my July. I have set my word count on the Camp NaNo site and have set up my novel choice for it.

Word count goal is 35K, or 35,000.

Story is a fanfiction that can easily turn into an original. Why? Because this story is nomming at my brain and all of the ideas for it are already making me cackle and make my fellow writers on Forward Motion chat cackle with me.

Some of the gems that I've shared? I warn you now, this is also on my twitter and is Not Safe For Work (NSFW). Or at least most of them aren't.

But whatever.
  1. I have a ball gag and ropes. I will truss you up like a kinky turkey to get you to shut up!
  2. Fuck. He went from "where's your daddy?" to "Fuck me daddy"!
  3. Female character seeing the above character topic in 2: Well...damn! Fuck me daddy and make me cream! (Yeah, that's not subtle at all.)
Yes, this will be a rather sexual romp into another side of a world that we can only speculate. I'm actually trying hard to finish another story before Camp, but that might not happen.

67 chapters long, and I'm only on chapter 56 okay? I have 11 chapters to write in 7 days and some odd hours because it's just after 2AM here on the 23ed, so yeah. Fun times.

I can get a good chunk of those chapters done (about 7 of them at the least) but I'm going to have to scatter them amongst the other chapters for this story so I can have it completely finished before my 10 week (by the 27th happens) end date of my other story.

Joys.

I'm not doing to bad all things considered but anything smutty (and I'm talking down and dirty, ranchy, pull out the toys for a little fun after reading that shit sex) has been a hard fought battle to get down.

Thank you whoever invented disposable pens that actually write nicely, and lined 3 ringed paper. Thank you.

Yes. I have been writing by hand my smut. Let me tell you what, some of my pieces have gone from 3K up to hitting nearly 5K okay? And that's for one frickin' chapter.

I also have a few other things I need to get off my list some I'm at the point of "Okay, where's my coffee and an all night spree of horror game playthroughs?"

My current choice (outside of Markiplier's "Amnesia" play throughs)? MrKravin. He really does have a very nice voice. I can tell you that.

Anyways, I'm going to go plot and write and curse and pull an all nighter so I can sleep most of the hot, hot, unbearably hot, day away. Seriously world? 120 degrees fahrenheit?

Yeah, I have to deal with that shit. Got to love desert living.

For now all, I hope you guys enjoy your day and hope that the words come easy!

As of Sunday, 6/26/2016: I have written 57 chapters, removed one chapter, and come down to 66 chapters. Why? Because one chapter didn't seem to fit once I got to it. So yeah, that happened. I have also hand written one (1) out of who knows how many smaller one-shots. I currently have about 6 oneshots for this story on the list but I'm also trying to get through my Through the Ages bk 1 first draft done.

But I'm still doing good considering I'm nearly living off of American Breakfast Tea (the tea version of a good cup of coffee) currently because my sleep schedule is shortened due to being flipped.

I'm going back to writing and twitter.

Today's Earworm: Highwayman by Bessech
Today's Date: June, 13, 2016

Preparing for Camp National Novel Writing Month July 2016 Pt 1

6/7/2016

I have settled on what I'm going to write along with the secondary stories. I have decided to do a story that I'm really not going to go into since I haven't decided if it's going to stay as a fanfic or become an original.

Either way it's going to be fun to write. That's for sure.

I have been planning out the story and talking ideas with a friend of mine for the last few days. Yesterday had me sleeping most of the day away before going to bed at a rather early hour. But I kind of needed it apparently.

But I still have a lot to do yet.

6/9/2016

God, what to say? There's really not a whole lot to say since I'm working on getting things set up and ready to go for this round of Camp.

My back is killing me, my muses are running around like insane little bastards and I'm trying so hard to finish off a few things before it comes time to start this insanity.

What am I to do?

6/10/2016

My muses decided to calm down enough for me to work on things and get other stories down and out of the way. Which is a good thing since I want to get this one story done before I start on Camp here. It keeps coming closer with every hour that passes by me.

And life keeps going nuts on us. I swear. It's driving me up a wall. But I keep going.

Because I can't really stop and just say "I want to quit". Life doesn't work like that, no matter how we want it to.

Yeah, I'm sounding a bit depressed because of real life stress.

Anyways, I just want it to be July already! I really, really want to write this story.

I already have 5 chapters planned out (and 3 out of 8 total written because I did start it but the rules do state that you can continue a story, but you must only count the new words, so yeah) and I'm always plotting what will happen in future chapters. I also need to watch a few things and make notes.

Urgh. Not happy making.

But I'm going to do it because I need those notes for other stories to. >< I swear one day I'm going to have this huge bookshelf just jammed pack full of notebooks with various notes.

I sigh now. And go back to writing.

Let's Talk...Abandoning a Story and Updates

Today's Earworm: The Way of Your World by Destrophy
Today's Date: May 30, 2016

Okay, so sit back and close your eyes. Imagine you're reading a story (on Fictionpress.net, or WattPad, or any service like that and you come to the last two chapters.

But wait! They're not chapters! They're an Author's Note that is telling you they're ditching the story or stories for whatever reason. Usually it's something stupid like "I don't get enough reviews/likes/kudos/whatever to post more on this so fuck all of my readers who really enjoy this story".

Or they're not even an Author's Note, they're actual chapters but the story hasn't been updated in years, so you go to the profile page of the person. And they state that they aren't doing their stories any more for a bad reason*.

*Bad reasons are those reasons that you have to stare at and go "What? What kind of bull is this?" This does NOT include reasons that include mental problems, emotional problems, computer problems, or reasonable real life excuses.

Now this really pushes my buttons (and the fact that I had to edit this several times to make it less ranty and more actually informative is telling you something I hope) and I seem to keep running across it.

Both in the world of fanfiction and site based originals. In regards to site based originals, I am talking about such sites like WattPad, Adult-Fanfiction, Archive of Our Own, and Fictionpress.net. Yes, AFF.org and AO3 both do have original sections but you have to kind of dig around for the better things.

I can and do understand life getting in the way. I've had stuff make it so that I wasn't posting, much less writing, for months at a time. So thank you to those who have updated us about their lives and where things are going for you , and I hope life balances out and doesn't kill the muse on you completely.

But I can't understand people not trying to find a balance in their life with their writing.

Okay, look. This is kind of an interesting subject because I had to work on finding a balance with my own writing and life when I was younger.

I have to say this again though: I can and do understand that life can get in the way or your writing and this is directed to those whose life is kind of not writing allowable currently. This is directed to those who say that they want to write, but don't do anything to figure out a schedule or work ethic.

I keep finding those who go "I want to be published/publish" but for some reason ditch a story (even if it is just fanfiction or an original on a site) because they're not getting any reviews/kudos/what have you.

I'm going to impart a bit of truth: Unless you are an established writer who has a good sized fanbase who feels they can trust you in getting your stories out and written and looking good, you won't be getting many reviews. Or pimping. Or anything like that.

Allow me to break it down into simple terms. For those who self-publish, they work their asses off to get any kind of reviews for their books, much less any "You should read this book!" reviews. Most traditionally published writers work just as hard depending on their popularity at the time and the company that is publishing them. They tend to still talk about their own stuff on their own blogs, web sites, and social media accounts.

If you have problems with the fact that most readers on a free to read site doesn't review or kudo, then you're going to have many more problems with the fact that your books won't have that many reviews. At least not until you start creating a fan base that trusts you in putting out a good book.

And in this world, holding a book hostage for reviews is career suicide. It's career suicide to hold a chapter to an online story as it is anyways. People are getting kind of tired of that and tend to pick up and move on.

Yes, I do have some stories that aren't done, but that's because I have decided that I need to sit down and tear them into bitty pieces to rewrite them, if not just turn into some new books.

No, I am not abandoning them.

Yes, they will be done.

No, I do not know when the stories will be done.

No, I do not know if I will replace the posted chapters on my sites with the new stories.

I'm not that far along in this process after all. But that doesn't mean that I've abandoned my stories, okay? I'm working on them, and I won't abandon them. The same goes with my fanfiction. I have to much fun with it to give it up ever.

And I don't know if I want to turn my Butterfly Series into something publishable.

Now, onto something a bit happier, as a general update on things, I am preparing for National Novel Writing Month (November 2016) and the next Camp National Novel Writing Month (July 2016), so we're going to see where I'm at when it comes time.

I'm hoping to finish Bk 1 of Through the Ages series, which is my hero series. That will allow me time to set it aside for a couple of months before I start the massive rewriting overhaul of the story itself. I'm also going to work on a couple of other fictions that I need to get done and start a couple of others, including my submission to Forward Motions 2016 Anthology.

I need to rethink my plot for that as it is. I have a few ideas but I need to rethink it.

So I'm busy as always, melting from the heat, and editing videos for my vlog and for the youtube channel that I am a part of with my friend. Need to get the intro video done though if it keeps giving me trouble I'm going to say screw it and rerecord it when I can.

As for the NaNo story that I'm going to do this year, I'm working on a fanfiction idea that is driving me up a wall so I'm going to write it. I have around 11 chapters planned out already. Here's hoping I have the rest ready to go.

Anyways, I have a lot to do today and very little time to do it.

So for now, I shall leave you with this and go about trying to find a story that is complete, long, and not abandoned. Wish me luck!

Writers Meme Tag Questions 2

Today's Earworm: Whore by In This Moment
Today's Date: May 23, 2016

And we come to the other half of the asks that I started last week. Remember you can find the list of all 50 questions on Maxkrin's Tumblr Blog along with all sorts of goodies that will help any writer.

Writers Meme Tag Questions 1

26: Which do you enjoy reading the most: physical, ebook, or both?

Physical or Ebook. Now that's kind of a tough one to answer. I like both really depending on what I'm doing. If I'm going for a long trip, I don't want to carry physical books so I'll make sure I have my chargers and bring my tablet to read my books on. But if I'm in bed, I like a real book in my hands.

I have a thing for the smell of paper and ink okay? I'm a writer. It's my kink.

27: Which is your favorite genre to write?

My favorite genre has to be Horror. Especially psychological horror. It's just so much fun to take something innocent or simple and twist it and make others wonder and fear.

28: Which do you find hardest: the beginning, the middle, or the end?

I have to say that the middle is probably the hardest part for me. When it comes to the start, I tend to know where I want to start and how I want to start by the time I want to write, and the end usually writes itself, so to speak. But filling in that point B in the A-B-C of my books tends to be a bitch.

29: Which do you find easiest: writing or editing?

Writing is actually easier for me than editing. Why? It's mostly because I don't want to sit there and read my own writing over, and over, and over again. It's kind of hard to do that, but I push through it. I usually rewrite while I write though so I can smooth a few of my issues out before I edit so that is making things easier.

30: Have you ever written fan-fiction?

Yes, I have and yes I still do. If you want to find me, I'm willing to tell you where to find me but since I would like to keep that part separate from my original writing career, it will be via e-mails or private messaging on one of my man sties. Sorry you guys.

31: Have you ever been published?

Not yet, but I am working on getting there.

32: How do you feel about friends and close relatives reading your work?

It depends on the person and the story. Most of my relatives won't understand why I write male/male pairings much less horror so I don't share it with them. But I do share most of my writing works with close friends who I know will enjoy writing them.

33: Are you interested in having your work published?

Yes, and I'll probably end up doing indie publishing when I get that point in my career. Just takes time.

34: Describe your writing space.

My writing space is actually in my bedroom. It's pretty much just a desk that I bought from Amazon and a rather comfortable chair (now that I got a memory foam sitting pillow). My laptop sits on a lap fan with mouse and keyboard (wired both) attached to it but resting on a keyboard drawer, so that works for me.

My desk is kind of covered in stuff (tissue box, bunny, some candles, wax burner, lip balms, necklace, some rubbing alcohol, suntan lotion, aloe gel, and body lotion). The shelves are covered in notebooks and files.

35: What’s your favorite time of day for writing?

My favorite time for writing has to be around sunset when the world starts to cool down. I don't do well in the heat and unfortunately, I don't do much writing while hot. Which sucks.

36: Do you listen to music when you write?

I do listen to music. It all depends on what I'm writing that will depend on what I listen to.

37: What’s your oldest WIP?

My oldest WIP has to be the Butterfly series, but I'm going to work on creating two different stories in that world. I'm going to focus the Butterfly series as a world on it's own while I work on creating Rye and his husbands as their own world connected with my friend's world.

I just need to get her for like 10 seconds and tell her what I'm thinking of doing.

38: What’s your current WIP?

I have several current WIPs. I have my "Zombie with a brain" story, Follow Me Down, Crimson Drops, Thread the Needle, Black Veiled Saviour, Honey Drops bk 1, a prompt based horror short, and my Lex/Rose story. There's a few that I had to forcibly put down because they'll be shorter series, but I seriously don't want to start those just yet.

39: What’s the weirdest story idea you’ve ever had?

The plot idea for Honey Drops because of the fact that it mixes Mythological creatures with aliens.

40: Which is your favorite original character, and why?

My favorite original has to be Rye. He's just such a broken little mess with so much power that he's not sure on what to do with it. He has two hubbies (for the moment), a Goddess watching his every move, and Fate trying to string him up by his nuts. Not only that he's stalked by a demon he fucked for power, and he's impossible to kill at the moment.

Though people have  tried to kill him. Once by burning him at the stake. It wasn't pretty.

He's just a such a lovely little thing.

41: What do you do when characters don’t follow the outline?

I adjust the outline if I feel that it's where the story should go to. There is a good reason why I rarely have more than 10 chapters planned out for any one book. And if I do have more than 10 chapters planned, it's because I know what needs to be done. But the outline is always changing as I write.

42: Do you enjoy making your characters suffer?

Yes. Why do you ask?

Okay, look, I'm a horror writer. I have to enjoy making my characters suffer or the story never goes anywhere and it doesn't read right. If I wasn't a sadistic bitch to my characters the story would fall flat okay?

I'm a nice person to those in the real life.

43: Have you ever killed a main character?

Why yes, I have. Clary was a main character in my Butterfly series and he was killed to help the plot move along. I got some heavy cries of "NOOO" from my readers at the time.

44: What’s the weirdest character concept you’ve ever come up with?

Weirdest character concept? Not really should he's weird but an old blood demon (original vampiric beings which spawned the vampires) that I used to RP with. He was then reformed into one of my brothers for Honey Drops.

45: What’s your favorite character name?

It has to be Alexx because it's such a lovely name. And very flexible. I have a few styles of this character for various worlds and places.

46: Describe your perfect writing space.

My perfect writing space is where I have privacy, sunlight that I'm not directly under, with a comfortable seat and a lovely desk to sit at with access to a TV, VCR, DVD player, computers, music systems, water kettle, coffee pot, and a good supply of both tea and coffee with all needed additives.

I pretty much have that now.

47: If you could steal one character from another author and make then yours, who would it be and why?

One character from another author to make mine? Hmm, not sure actually. It would probably be Son'arrin from my friend who writes "A Demon's Toy" (online story that is going through some MASSIVE amounts of rewriting) but I doubt that I could do him full justice.

He's a broken character just like Rye.

48: If you could write the next book of any series, which one would it be, and what would you make the book about?

Harry Potter. I would love to do a book in the Harry Potter series and write it from Neville Longbottom's POV or from Hermione Granger's POV. Work my way through all 7 books and see how things went through their eyes. They were such interesting characters.

Or even characters like Dean Thomas or Seamus (I forget his last name). It's such a big world that there would be so much to explore even sticking to the canon of the story.

49: If you could write a collaboration with another author, who would it be and what would you write about?

A collaboration with another author would have to be with Jennifer Amriss. She is a wonderful writer and a friend that I made a while ago. So I would love to work with her on a collaboration.

Or I would love to write with Necia Phoenix. She to is a wonderful writer and I would love to see what we could come up with if we sat down and worked out some interesting story lines.

Yes, writers who are indy are the ones that I'm after for collaborations if that ever happens. But I love their writing and their style. It's just so much fun.

50: If you could live in any fictional world, which would it be?

I don't think I would ever live in any fictional world because they all have their problems and I'd rather not run into that.

Camp National Novel Writing Month April 2016 - Days 25 to 30

Today's Ear Worm: Billy Talent "Pins and Needles"
Today's Date: May 2, 2016

April 25:
Word Count: 0
Total Word Count: 33,622
Thoughts for the Day:

I spent the day going up to Gilbert. I'm exhausted and just to tired to do anything but crash out hard for the day. Nights all.

April 26:
Word Count:
Total Word Count:
Thoughts for the Day:

I have officially validated my novel! Yay! I hit just over 35K words which made me very, very happy. I'll work on getting more words probably tomorrow.

I do need sleep though. Still getting over yesterday's trip.

April 27:
Word Count: 374
Total Word Count: --
Thoughts for the Day:

4:33PM

I actually started kind of late today but that's mostly because I was reading through Necia Pheonix's book and seeing how it read.

Two hours, 22 chapters, and a cliff hanger as I wait for more to come my way...and I'm hooked. *sighs*

I'm going to finish off another short story today since I need to get it done.

Midnight:

I got my rewriting done but that's about it. I started on actual words but only got about 200 in. That kind of sucked.

April 28:
Word Count: 2544
Total Word Count: --
Thoughts for the Day:

I did get those words done! One long as chapter that happily feel in about 2,544 words total, so that made me happy!

I also got a friend hooked on two of my stories. Which is fun. I cackled and teased her with ideas for future chapters. She pouted and demanded more.

Now I'm just rewriting an older story and getting that off of my plate (I'm still pretty damn far from the end actually), but it's slow going since it was well over 3K when I started editing it.

April 29:
Word Count:
Total Word Count:
Thoughts for the Day:

12:31AM:

I am still editing this monster of a chapter. Seriously.

I have no idea when I'll finish this but I've gone through two cups of coffee, a cup of tea, and half a huge bowl of popcorn so far working on this thing. And the entire collection of "Duff Until Dawn" which was like 6 half hour episodes. So about 3 hours.

So much detail to rewrite! This is killer man.

1:19AM:

3 hours, 3 cups of coffee, and a shit ton of squinting and I have gotten it done! *flops* I added well over 1K worth of words to it to, so that was surprising.

Really, really surprising.

I'm going to get ready for bed, crash out for a few hours. Get up at 11 to take a shower and wait for my friend to get her ass over here so we can go do things.

See you guys later!

April 30:
Word Count:
Total Word Count:
Thoughts for the Day:

I've been pretty much working on rewriting and putting down notes for one of my stories. I am still exhausted after yesterday. If you noticed, I didn't write anything yesterday because I was exhausted after all our shopping.

So rewriting and figuring out what to write tomorrow for the final thoughts on this April is pretty much what I'm doing today.

Fun times.

Final Thoughts on Camp National Novel Writing Month April 2016:

So this month was interesting. Seriously interesting since it was so busy outside of my writing.

I had days where I didn't have a single word put down and some days where I couldn't stop writing, which balanced everything out.

I got 3 chapters of "Thread the Needle" down but I need to plan a few more chapters out before I write on it some more. I want to get it done by maybe December, or at least the first draft.

I did get some fanfiction done and I'm working on finishing up a couple of other stories before I do anything since I have so much to finish.

And so little time.

I'm thinking that I will be doing the "Story-A-Day" thing on Forward Motion Writers, level 1 or 2 (which are light versions), and posting them here come June. So keep an eye out for those!

And maybe I can figure out a few of my stories, get a few other things done. Here's hoping.

But I think that I will make sure that July kisses my ass and I work on things during that month. Don't have much else to do after all.

Camp National Novel Writing Month April 2016 - Days 18 to 24

Today's Ear Worm
Today Date: April 25, 2016

April 18:
Word Count: 1,467
Total Word Count: 28,003
Thoughts for the Day:

7:44PM

I have no idea what to say. I'm exhausted, wanting to just sleep for the next six years, but I'm working my way through some Marilyn Manson songs on my spotify so that's always fun. I've also completely rewritten 2 chapters of one of my stories so far, so that is making me happy.

Let's see if I can get a third one done.

Midnight:

I got the last one done. I go boom.

April 19:
Word Count: 0
Total Word Count: 28,003
Thoughts for the Day:

Midnight:

Writing? What is this writing you speak of?

Actually I did get a lot of writing done but I've been meh all day. I got around 524 words on this gift story for a friend chapter done then my mind went "Wheee!" without me and left me going "The flying fuck?".

That's not...really an odd thing though. ADD does that to a person. I figure it was because I wasn't listening to the right music today.

So we'll see how tomorrow's writing goes.

Ah...? What? Oh! The ADD and music thing? How does that work?

Well, for me at least (cause I do NOT speak for the rest of those who have ADD or ADHD, and if you don't know what those terms mean, click the links), I have to have noise of some kind. It's sometimes a TV Show (I watch a lot of anime, and I enjoy Rosewood when I have time to catch up on Hulu). Sometimes it's a movie (horror mostly. I like The Puppet Master and Paranormal Activity most often than not). But mostly it's something like music.

Today I was listening to a band (for the most part) called Abney Park. They're...steampunk meets gothic southern in terms of sound and I happen to really love their song "Airship Pirates". Or "Steampunk Revolution".

But I don't think it was a good idea to listen to them while writing. It may be a good idea later, but not at the moment, but that happens.

I'll see what happens tomorrow.

April 20:
Word Count: 1,792
Total Word Count: 29,795
Thoughts for the Day:

8:31:

Let's see, I got on, took a hot shower because I slept wrong on my shoulder (whoops), and reread over what I had written. I took a moment, got some breakfast of a kind, ate, and then opened twitter.

I stated that I was sitting at 524 words and would be rewriting it. I finished the rewriting at 677 words, and the chapter at 1,503, but now I need to rewrite what I added to the first bit of rewriting.

So no matter how this goes, I've gotten 1,503 words total! Sweet. That makes me happy. But I think I'm going to rewrite for the rest of the day and keep in mind for future chapters that I have the option of rewriting what I've already written, even if I'm not finished with the chapter.

I've also started a twitter hastag list for myself because my superhero series (now called Through the Ages) got it's own hastag (#ThroughTheAge) so that rocked. I also have 8 books in that series instead of 7.

Just made more work for myself there, but that happens I suppose?

But yes, the music was what was messing with me. I've been listening to a list on Spotify called "Writers Block Inspiration" all day long and I've been able to focus. Which is very nice.

9:26:

And yes! Finished that chapter. Going to work on getting some rewriting done. Wish me luck!

April 21:
Word Count: 0
Total Word Count: 29,795
Thoughts for the Day:

I didn't get any words actually. I was just so tired and kind of out of it. But that's about normal for me. But I did start the words. I just didn't finish said words until after Midnight. Whoops?

April 22:
Word Count: 2,040
Total Word Count: 31,835
Thoughts for the Day:

I actually got a chapter done and then rewrote another chapter on another story. Which was a total yay moment since I didn't get to bed until around 9:24AM this morning. I luckily finished the writing before I crashed, since I didn't get up until 4:15 PM.

Whoops.

Yes, I say that a lot.

April 23:
Word Count:1,787
Total Word Count: 33,622
Thoughts for the Day:

9:47 PM:

Whoot! I got another chapter written down and ready to go. I'm about to work on a second chapter now. I'm SO close to winning this camp! Here goes nothing!

April 24:
Word Count: ---
Total Word Count: 33,622
Thoughts for the Day:

-- I ended up being away for most of the day, sorry you guys. --

Camp National Writing Month April 2016 - Days 11 to 17

Today's Ear Worm: Stitches by Orgy
Today's Date: April 18, 2016

April 11:
Word Count: 1,515
Total Word Count: 17,933
Thoughts for the Day:

So after I got something like 3 bits of writing done, I had a bit of a hard time getting back into the writing. But I did get something down and written, so that made me exceedingly happy with that.

April 12:
Word Count: 1,434
Total Word Count: 19,367
Thoughts for the Day:

Again, a long day but I got words done after going from my superhero book to another story that didn't have sex in the next chapter. I'm happy though and I'm going to write happy times tomorrow. Wish me luck. :D

April 13:
Word Count: 0
Total Word Count: 19,367
Thoughts for the Day:

1:36PM:

I had to update the last couple of days because I forgot to do so on those days. I was trying REALLY hard to get those words out but I'm not focused and ready to go at it. I think I'm going to make a cup of Chocolate Orange Tea and write this sex scene in my superhero story.

Midnight:

I didn't make the words. I'm heading to bed because I'm falling asleep over my keyboard right now so I need to crash out. Nights!

April 14:
Word Count: 1,977
Total Word Count: 21,344
Thoughts for the Day:

3:03PM:

After a bit of set up I'm finally getting into new words. Here's hoping that I'll get this done. And yes, I know, my reports of this shit has been getting small.

I've been out of it and doing other things. So sorry.

But I'm hoping to get these a little longer.

9PM:

And I finished the chapter and even did some rewriting. I took a short nap for about 30 minutes around 6, and it was a welcomed distraction. I'm happily awake, for the moment, but will crash out very soon here.

I need sleep that doesn't include me waking up at the butt crack of dawn again. I hate when that happens.

But I suppose that I shall live, yes?

April 15:
Word Count: 0
Total Word Count: 21,344
Thoughts for the Day:

No actual words done. I swear that I got up and then suddenly it was late. I did start to get some words but not a lot all things considered. It's kind of a normal thing but still. That sucked.

April 16:
Word Count: 3,252
Total Word Count: 24,596
Thoughts for the Day:

12:40PM

Woke up and took a shower. That helped me to wake up so I'm going to start on getting some more words today. Cross the fingers.

Midnight:

I got 2, count 'em, 2!, chapters written up today! When I finished that second chapter, I squealed happily and twirled in my chair.

That hurt.

But I had some help. The lovely and sweet Crystal on Twitter (@CE_Writer) gave me some prompts (Owl, poison and haunted house) from her fantasy prompt dice. I took it and RAN with it. I pumped out so many words it was AMAZING.

I even got in a livestream with The Real Crazy M (@therealcrazym on twitter), which was a whole lot of fun. :D

Let's see how I do tomorrow, yes?

April 17:
Word Count: 1,940
Total Word Count: 26,536
Thoughts for the Day:

It is 9:54PM, and I'm about done with the only chapter that I was able to get this round alas. I woke up kind of late, about 1 instead of noon, which is odd for me nowadays since I tend to get up at a semi-decent hour.

Started writing about 3, and had to stop and rewrite everything that I had put down. It's so much smoother and once I finish this chapter, I'll rewrite the rest of it to fit in with the rewritten bit. Here's hoping yes?

11:18PM

As Five Finger Death Punch's song "Lift Me Up" plays on my Spotify, I'm sitting here going "F-my life", just without the censoring. Cause seriously...that was close!

*flops*

Camp National Writing Month April 2016 - Days 4 to 10

Today's Ear Worm: The 69 Eyes "Sister of Charity" or "Rosary Blue" Ft. Kat Von D
Today's Date: April 11, 2016

April 4:
Word Count: 1,573
Total Word Count: 5,616
Thoughts for the Day:

I was able to get a good word count today. I also hung out with some of my friends, got things done and got a new pillow that will do until I can get some new memory foam to turn into a pillow. My butt thanks me.

Not a lot to say beyond my characters are sassy little SOB's and that one character has an inner "school girl with a crush" thing going on.

I headdesk now.

April 5:
Word Count: 0
Total Word Count: 5,616
Thoughts for the Day:

I did get writing done on this day, but I didn't finish what I was working on at the time. I was rather busy with other things and couldn't quite get all of the words in. I did get in over 1K worth of words by the time I headed to bed (actually, I landed at 1,596 words), but since I like to count the finished product in my words...I didn't get any at all for 4/5/16.

Which isn't a bad thing! Really, it's not.

It happens sometime and I did get in some good amounts of words.

I have a feeling though that this thing is going to be the energizer bunny of standalones.

April 6:
Word Count: 3,963
Total Word Count: 9,579
Thoughts for the Day:

7:24 to 7:30PM

Fuck. I hate it when I'm right. As of 7:24PM I have 2,944 words on this standalone. Guys, this means that I have a ridiculous amount of wordage going on here for this one thing. And it's not really a part of a story. It's a story in of it's self that is a part of a world.

And of course the ever dreaded thought of "Should I start a sister blog of this blog on WordPress?" has popped up.

Timing with the thoughts, people, it sucks. So very much.

10:12PM

It is just after 10PM and I have reached the end of this monster story! I would put up a picture of a person just flopped over, but I can't find a good one so...yeah. Just imagine a bunny flopping over right now yes?

Okay! Now that I have that done, I have to say that this was a very long stand alone. Granted, I've written nearly 5K worth of words for a standalone, but that's usually mostly a plot that has promise, but it doesn't really evolve into a full on story. This was just pretty much sex.

And a lot of it.

The longest I've really gotten up to for a sexual escapade is around 3,500 words.

But: I have caught up on words. Yay for me!

Back to the words.

April 7:
Word Count: 0
Total Word Count: 9,579
Thoughts for the Day:

3:40
Today was a rather late start due to the fact that me and my mother discovered that the water that we had gotten just a couple of days ago was filled with sediment and didn't taste clean. We're thinking that the water machine that we use had a faulty filter, which happens when it's used as much as it is.

But as I sit here and listen to "Rosary Blue" on repeat, I can't help but turn my mind to "Thread the Needle" and the "Don't Look" series that it's a part of.

And to the thoughts of romance, sex, and love in the books themselves. I have a feeling that there will be relationships and the such but...I'm not finding myself that I want to actually plan out those relationships.

It's kind of a new experience for me.

Thoughts for the Day:

11:17 AM

I'm sitting here watching a video that Akidearest had posted on youtube, using the audio from an address to a graduating class by Neil Gaiman, and I had to find the original video that brought me to something of a realization.

The part where he goes "Make Good Art". He talked, in the full speech, about losing himself to the day to day things, about losing the drive to write because he was so busy answering e-mails. Or he was doing this, or that. And that when he learned to say No, the writing came back.

I think that everyone needs to remember that just because life throws a curve ball at you, you should continue to Make Good Art, come hell or high water, because it makes you happy.

I'm going to create something that will remind me of this and stick it on the wall before me.

For now I'm going to try to catch up on words since yesterday was all sorts of overcast and made me sluggy. Today it's just rain randomly.

April 9:
Word Count: 780
Total Word Count: 11,856
Thoughts for the Day:

I kind of ended up rewriting a couple of chapters on one of my other stories, so thus why the small amount of words. I was drained by going out to get portraits done for my mom. But I did pretty good all things considered.

April 10:
Word Count: 4,562
Total Word Count: 16,418
Thoughts for the Day:

10:14 AM:

I'm actually thinking of working on a series of movie reviews that would come out either on Friday or Saturday. I'll probably do a test run with the Insidious 3 movie series and go from there if I get some enjoyment going from this.

But words are needed for now.

8:50 PM

I got well over 3K by this time and yet...I go for more. Let's see if I can get over 15K here shall we?

9:43 PM

Nearly an hour later and I'm well over 3K in the final word count. In fact, I'm sitting pretty at 4,562 (four thousand, five hundred, and sixty two words).

This puts me at 16,418 words total so far for the last 10 days. I'm shocked at myself. Really! I was not expecting to have so many words so soon! I'm averaging about 1,642 words a day with this. I'm shaking my head.

And watching my brain dribble out of my ears. I'm tired. And I can feel the bunnies want to write more but I can't right now because the bed?

It's looking REALLY comfortable right about now.

So I'm going to log my word count, put my fan up into my window (as long as it doesn't decide to rain again on me), and get some well deserved sleep. I think I need it since I got up rather early to film the rain.

Which I have to fiddle around with tomorrow. I'll do that later. -.- Tired writer is tired.

Tune in next week to see if I hit my word count early or not!

Camp National Novel Writing Month: Days 1 to 3, 2016

Today's Earworm: Bad Religions "Sorrow, Acoustic Version" or "Dearly Beloved Acoustic"
Today's Date: 4/1/2016 (April 4, 2016)

Warning: April 2nd was not kind to me. I do speak about a stomach that is not happy in the worst possible way. If you don't care for it, just skip the lighter purple text down there.

April 1:
Word Count:2,841
Total Word Count: 2,841
Thoughts for the Day:

12:02 AM
Fuck. My. Muses. If you will excuse the language, but really! Fuck my muses! It's a few minutes after midnight on April 1st, I'm kind of avoiding Facebook, I'm pretty much on my twitter profile page, and tumblr is non-existent since about 7 yesterday evening due to the differing time zones.

Yeah, I don't do April Fools okay? I had a friend really screw me over with a fake death thing once. And it made it hard to believe her when she told me about the true death of another friend.

But we're here to talk about how my oh so lovely muses have screwed me over this time.

I was thinking about working on Book 1 of my "Don't Look" Series, which is called "A Delicate Thread", when my muses decided to be utter pains in my ass.

They decided that I needed to write the entire frickin' back history of my story. So guess what I'm doing?

That's right. I'm writing "Threading the Needle" for my Camp! *headdesk* I'm hoping that it won't be to horribly long but it might turn out because there's a lot to go over. About 20 years worth of history actually.

Insert a big gusty sigh here yes?

And before you ask about the series, and why I'm naming them the way I am, the names are all connected to thread, yarn, twine, ect. What have you. It's just been that way through out the entire time that I started writing the series.

Book 0: Thread the Needle
Book 1: A Delicate Thread
Book 2: Spin Me a Yarn
Book 3: Twist the Twine (which is quite actually a part of the character's story)

So there.

Fuck. My. Muses.

4:51 PM

I have no idea what I'm doing here. I got some words earlier, got it all done. Now I'm working on this story. I have a feeling that it's going to be interesting to get things done.

Here's hoping that I finish more words before the end of today.

8:25 PM

Well then! Got the word count down and out. Got a video out on my youtube video. Got a chapter on my story written, and now I'm going to go take a well deserved hot bath!

Tomorrow I'm going to work on another story that I need to get through before things happen. Insert a huffy sigh again.

For now, hugs and kisses. Good night all.

April 2:
Word Count: Nothing, see Thoughts for the Day for reasons
Total Word Count: 2,841
Thoughts for the Day:

So it is just after 9PM here in Arizona-land and I'm exhausted even though I just got up about two hours ago.

Today was just one long fucked up session. I was heading to bed for a nap before my friend came over to grab my ass for shopping when my body goes "You need the bathroom". I ended up communing with my trash and actually gagging a few times.

What was it?

It was a flare up of pain that was unfortunately added to by another issue that I now have medication to take care of, so no worries on that. My mom calls my friend and tells her that I can't make it today unfortunately.

An hour later, a very hot shower, unable to even sip at room temperature water without communing with the trash can just in case, and my mom calls for an ambulance. I get dressed, slowly since moving hurt like a bitch and sit on my mom's bed seeing as I was using her shower (seeing as she had a shower seat and a hose shower head going on). That was about as far as I got before my body rejected whatever I had eaten.

Which had been about an hour and a half before (lean pocket with a couple crush orange/grape twizzlers).

They come in, listen to me reject my stomach contents three times in a row, and decide to just full on take me to the hospital.

I get there, get a room and take 30 minutes to lay a damn IV line. About ten minutes later (and finally getting blood drawn for the usual battery of tests), I have three new needle marks, an IV line, a fat bag of fluids to push, and a shot with pain killers and anti-nausea flowing into my system. It was nice to move without setting off a wave of level 10+ pain.

Around 12:30, 1, I'm finally getting out because I was so dehydrated that I needed the fattest IV bag that they can give you. It took about 20 minutes to get through half the bag, where usually it would take you about 40 minutes if they aren't pushing the fluids.

They weren't pushing the fluids. I just needed it like no one's business.

Anyways, I got out, called my cab, got home around 2:30. I ate some chicken soup (my mother is an awesome woman), laid down, and crashed until about 6 when my mom gave me my first round of pills. Got up about 7 with a sleep hangover. Took some more pain killers and ate.

I'm now about to crawl back into bed and curl up. I need sleep like nobodies business. And hopefully my stomach stops hating me randomly. I hate being sore after such things.

Hopefully I can get good words tomorrow.

April 3:
Word Count: 1,202
Total Word Count: 4,043
Thoughts for the Day:

5:55 PM

Ah, finally, I have gotten my writing done since I had some rather interesting thoughts about things in the last few hours that took me taking a hot bath to relax and think about.

But I got chapter 2 of Thread the Needle done.

So much rewrite to be done. *sighs*

Just after midnight on the 4th, and I didn't finish my chapter but I'll get it later. I need to get some sleep here to deal with tomorrow.

Preparing for Camp National Novel Writing Month - April 2016 pt 3

Today's Ear Worm: Masashi Hamauzu "Storm Before The Calm"
Today's Date: March 28, 2016

You know what? I thought I would do something different than what I wrote originally for this blog.

As I write this blog, it's only the 17th of March (St. Patrick's Day) and I just dragged my falling apart recliner out to the garbage.

So as I was trying to post some pictures to Twitter (which apparently hate me), I decided that I should do a blog post about the physical aspect of preparing for Camp National Novel Writing Month.

So here it is!

How I physically got ready for the free for all of Camp NaNo.

Told in pictures. And a Video.

The view from my bed. Messy yes?

A better view.

I'm going to have to do some major cleaning before I start building the desk up!

I built the desk and killed myself doing so.

I'm ready. Bring it on!

There's a few people that I really want to thank for being such wonderful, inspiring people. And that I hope I don't annoy you to much.

Thank you, so much, for listening to me rant, rave, moan, and babble about my writing. You all inspire me so very much!

Note: All names are linked to their personal websites if I can find one for them, otherwise it's linked to their twitter or facebook. If I can find one or have one.

Necia Pheonix: NP, as I often call her, is a mother with a husband who is often working. She has some wonderful kids and one of them is actually getting into the writing world! She's a wonderful writer, an even more awesome mother, and an awesome snake mommy with some lovely babies.

She even has an Instagram to see her snaky babies on! Not going to link that though since she does have pics of kids on there to.

J.A. Marlow: Jammy!

I met Jam back in...2013 right around the time that NaNo was starting (November). They were a wonderful person then and they're a wonderful person now, so I'm honored that they are so delightful.

They just lost their mother though, Mother Hen, and the world wept when she finally lost the battle. 10 days after she went to sleep and never woke up. She was a fighter to the end and loved all things art and writing. I just wish I had gotten to see Mother Hen when she was healthier, more there and doing what she loved to do.

But I see MH in Jam and I'm always honored to know this wonderful person and to read their stuff.

...And to get attacked by bunnies from them.

Lazette Gifford (her picture blog and her Joyously Prolific Journal): I know Zette a bit, but she's always delightful to talk with and her writing abilities are awe aspiring. Her books are perfectly wonderful and I love seeing her cats. They are so beautiful, and always trying to help mommy with the words!

I am amazed and honored that I know her. And I hope that life keeps treating her well.

Ashe Elton Parker: What to say about this wonderful person? Ashe is always willing to chat and talk about writing and life as it goes along. They're a wonderful person and have been through a lot themselves. But they are happy and living life which is a beautiful thing.

They currently have only had stuff published in the Forward Motion Anthologies (2012, 2013, 2014, and I believe they put a fourth one in 2015's to, but I can't be sure) currently but they are working hard on creating a build up of stories.

Still, they're a wonderful author, a lovely person, and someone I respect.

Jennifer Amriss: Ah, what to say about the ever beautiful Arya? She is relatively new to the publishing world but less so to the writing world. She is beautiful and wonderful and so brilliant even though she worries about not being good enough.

I can tell you right now, I got my picky as all get out bibliophile of a friend ADDICTED to her stories. She's good. Trust me.

Take some time, go check out her site and bask in her amazing worlds. Buy her books as they come out and help support her and her kitty Punks. The kitty could use some catnip to drive her mommy even more insane.

Connie Cockrell: I have met Connie and I can tell you that she's a lovely, lovely person who needs more people reading her stuff. She started to write on a dare and got bit hard by the need for it!

But she's a wonderful woman who is a wonderful person, who comments occasionally on my posts here, so thank you, Connie. Really. Your words are always a welcomed sight to my eyes.

Kathleen Roberts: I actually met her on...Im' not sure where but I have her on facebook, and ever since I have been getting to know her quite well. She's got an amazing mind and goes outside of the box for her ideas. So I'm happy to have her in my life to.

:D It's always nice to have a friend who enjoys writing just as much as you do.

Now there are some people who I can't link to for various reasons, but I want to send out my thanks to Tonya, my heart sibling, Susan, a wonderful woman who is always willing to squeal about my stuff and is a dear friend, and her husband, Vaughan, who is like the brother that I always wanted.

So thank you three. For being my rock outside of my mother. Really.

And thank you to all those who are here now, who follow my twitter, tumblr, or facebook page. Who silently support me in their own ways or take time to send kind words.

It all means a lot.

Thank you.

Bi-Weekly Writing Update 2

Today's Ear Worm: David Bowie "Lazarus"
Date: January 29, 2016

Ever since I learned of David Bowie's passing on the 11th, I've been doing nothing but alternating between listening to his last song Lazarus, knowing that it was his goodbye to the fans that he had through the generations, watching Labyrinth, and listening to Youtube playlists of his songs.

It...hurts knowing that this amazing man who was everything that was amazing about the world around us, has left us. Left his family. Left so much to do but never able to do it.

Then of course we lose Alan Rickman. Which just hurts even more.

But these last two weeks have proven productive, my muses taking inspiration from these talented, wonderful men who were taken from us.

January 15: Wrote chapter 4 of Honey Drops book 1, finishing at 1,433.
January 16: Wrote  chapter at 1,431 and edited another, adding 533 words to it
January 17: Rewrote a chapter and added 293
January 18: Nothing
January 19: Wrote a 1-shot at 1,905 and rewrote a chapter, adding 397 words to it
January 20: Wrote on my "Ages" Series, chapter 11, falling at 1,534 (The "Ages" Series is my superhero book series)
January 21: Rewrote 3 chapters, adding 178, 313, and 353 words

January 22: Wrote a chapter, ended with 1,401 words
January 23: Wrote a chapter, ended with 1,365 words
January 24: Wrote a chapter, ended with 1,298 words
January 25: Rewrote a chapter, added 434 words
January 26: Wrote a chapter, ended with 1,484

Praise the Writing Gods!

Today's Muse Feeder: Porcelain Doll by Megan Mccauley
Date: January 25, 2016

Praise be to the muses!

Why do I say this? I say this because I got bored while I was trying to figure out an ending to a gift fic for a friend for Valentine's Day, and found some of my old originals that I thought I had lost when my old flash drive re-formatted on me. I can tell you it took me three run throughs with a file recovery software to find most of my files.

Still lost three really big files that I was working on, had to go around and find my friends who had copies of things.

Apparently I hadn't lost these files though, just tucked them into a folder within a folder.

Shoot me, I'm OCD and I break down stories according to fanfictions or originals, and then further by world, chapters, edited chapters, and posted chapters (for fanfiction) or by world, chapters, rewritten world, edited chapters, and various copies as I rewrite and edit each story.

Anyways!

I found them. One is called "All You Need" which is about a man who can shift his looks. He's pretty much a one man escort service (no sex is expressively stated in all contracts, which I'm going to be going into further in the rewrite) and has had his fair share of heart break. At least until he meets his newest client and finds himself falling.

Hard.

I'm going to be building the world from right around when he turns 16 and meets his first boyfriend, and goes through his life.

It'll end up a M/M romance, but will have M/F pairings in there to.

The other is just known as my Lex/Rose story. They are both males but Rose's parents were kind of on the hippiesh side. The base story I have now has them meeting, getting to know each other, and starting to date.

I plan to expand it from like the 11 to 13 chapters it is now up to at the least 20 to 25 chapters, really get in there in regards to the neighborhood stalkers and the bs that they have to deal with.

Build up their pasts some more, less information dumping, more spreading it out.

I need to name the cat in the story to. *pulls out legal pads and sets about planning for things*

Wish me luck as I tackle these? I'm hoping to actually have some kind of outline done by the end of January.

Here goes nothing!

Bi-Weekly Writing Update 1

Today's Ear Worm: Kesha "Die Young"
Goes from January 1, 2016 to January 14, 2016
Weeks: 1 and 2

So what exactly is this? Well this is to keep me on tract and to give you an idea of the day to day life that I live in regards to my writing.

Mind you there are some things that I won't label in regards to what I'm writing but that's because I have another line of stuff that you won't be seeing any time soon.

Anyways, let's get down to it.

Week 1 kind of sucked for me.

But I did get some stuff done.

January 2: Wrote 1,181 words on book 1 of my "Hero's" series.
January 4: Edited a story and added 842 words.
January 7: Wrote 1,698 words on book 1 of my "Hero's" series.

Week 2 looked a little better.

January 9: Wrote 1,321 words on a story
January 10: Edited a chapter and added  words.
January 13: Edited chapter, added 152 words, Wrote 1,460 words on another story
January 14: Wrote 1,452 words on a story

So all together these last two weeks, I've gotten 8,746 new words and spent 4 days editing some chapters.

All together not bad. So here's hoping that next weeks round will treat me better yes?

Nano Day 6 - November 6, 2015

Day 6
November 6, 2015
Today's theme: "The Bund" by The Shanghai Restoration Project

Hello all! I am here to share what I have been up to today. Which was quite a lot but some of it is extremely personal so I'm not going to get into that today.

What I am going to get into is where my writing stands as of now. Quick widget:

This is pretty much telling me that in 6 days I have made 21 percent of my 50K word count goal. And that's really rather good for me. :D I'm proud of myself. :D

Especially since Wednesday was just such a flop. That's where getting in some sexual bits come in handy since I tend to write them rather long.

I went shopping and got home around 3:30. Put things away and sat down, staring at my computer for a good hour and a half after I got home. Again, part of those personal bits, but still.

I decided to work on a fanfiction since my mind is rather on the mean side. I now have plans on stringing a guy up by his bits and then having one of my characters preserving them. Yes, it's not a good day to day, thus the warning at the top.

But I did want to share that I am getting words done (hurrah!) and I'm getting things done. So hopefully I will have that lovely little video done and up for you guys. Since I have to rerecord it. But that'll happen tomorrow.

For now, I'm just going to tell you guys that I am getting my words down. And for all those writers out there, that I hope your words are coming to you to. Hugs all.
